4 DIY Winter Beauty Treatments

The dry and cold air of Winter can really give your skin a hard time causing redness, breakouts, and flaking regardless of your skin type and skin tone. It also gives your hair a hard time by causing dryness, breakage, and some itchy cases of dandruff. Now you can purchase a number of different products to help you but why not save your holiday money and try some DIY remedies. Homemade beauty tricks when used on a consistent basis are just as, if not more, effective than any expensive product. They have little to no chemicals making it much more natural and beneficial for your skin long term, and of course they're extremely affordable. So raid your pantry or fridge and try these DIY holiday beauty remedies.

1. For Dry Hair & Breakage Relief: AndreasChoice Egg Hair Mask
 1 Egg
 Coconut oil

Andrea's Strengthening Hair Mask is nothing but  fantastic for damaged hair. This mask took my  brittle hair to Victoria Secret waves.  My hair is  extremely thick so I was a little skeptical about the  results at first. Yet, after doing this mask about 6  times now in the last few months, it's left my hair  light, shiny, and soft. Depending on how thick your  hair is, mix in 1 egg with 1-2 TBS of coconut oil. If  you're using unrefined coconut oil which is better,  simply warm it up into a liquid.  Apply the mixture  from the roots to the ends and keep your hair up for about 30-40 minutes. Rinse and wash your hair with your shampoo and conditioner. I recommend trying this twice a month or if you have really damaged, dry hair maybe once a week.

2. For Dandruff Relief: Apple Hair Mask
2 Apples
3 TBS Vinegar
The acidity of an apple attacks the dry areas of the scalp. Before you use all your apples for those pies, save a few for this DIY dandruff relief treatment. Carefully peel an apple and mix the apple skins with a splash of vinegar.  After you wash your hair, apply the mixture to your scalp, leave on for 10 minutes and rinse out. For best results try twice a week..

3. For Dry Skin Relief: Greek Yogurt Cleanser
3 TBS Greek Yogurt
1/4 Lime or Lemon
1 tsp Honey
This is my favorite face mask that benefits all skin types.Mix together each ingredient until fully combined and refrigerate for about 10 min. Then using a foundation brush, apply the mixture all over the face and leave on for about 15 minutes or until you feel the mixture drying. Rinse and pat dry!

                                                      4. For Blackhead & Redness Relief: Holiday Scrub
1 package of oatmeal or brown sugar
Green tea leaves (optional)
Skip the oatmeal cranberry cookies, and make this winter time favorite into a natural and light exfoliator that you can use twice a week. Add less water to the oatmeal for a thicker texture and mix in some mashed cranberries. These two ingredients are filled with antioxidants to help clear toxins from the skin. Add in the green tea leaves for a stress free sensation and to reduce any redness.
